[]

Symptom
Release restrictions of WEBCUIF 700 SP01 for Apple Safari browser
Other terms
webcuif crmuif mac macintosh windows sap crm 7.0
Reason and Prerequisites
At the time of the release of SAP CRM 7.0 SP01 shortcomings existed in the Web Client UI Framework concerning the productive usage of certain functions under the Apple Safari 3.1 browser. This note provides customer information on these restrictions. This note only covers framework-level restrictions and does not cover any application-specific restrictions.

Java applets hide menus (Safari for Windows only)
Java applets (such as the Marketing Calendar or the Segment Builder) are always drawn above everything else on the page. Menus opened from the navigation bar or from a toolbar are obscured by any applets that intersect with them, sometimes rendering the menus unusable.

Java applets show white band when menus are opened (Safari for Mac only)
When a menu (such as a navigation bar menu or a toolbar menu) is opened above an applet, the applet shows a white band underneath it. This is purely a visual defect: the menu is usable and the white band disappears when the menu is closed.

SAP CRM does not run in the SAP Enterprise Portal
Since the SAP NetWeaver release on which SAP CRM is based does not support the SAP Enterprise Portal on Safari, SAP CRM cannot be run in the SAP Enterprise Portal on Safari.

Users must explicitly allow pop-up windows in their browser
SAP CRM uses pop-up windows and the user must explicitly disable Safari’s pop-up blocking feature. The same is true in other browsers but Safari does not notify the user when a pop-up window is blocked.
( Changed on 15.10.2008 )
Users must explicitly select the “Press Tab to highlight each item on the page” option in Safari’s preferences
If this option is not selected, the tab key will only cycle between input fields, and will not go through all active controls on the page like in other browsers.
( Changed on 15.10.2008 )
Safari does not provide a tree-based XML browser
Microsoft Internet Explorer displays XML documents as an interactive tree that lets users expand or collapse nodes. Safari does not, and the Web Client UI Framework does not provide a replacement for this functionality.
( Changed on 15.10.2008 )
Frames must use the same protocol as the main window
Some CRM applications contain frames that point to other servers within the main window. Under Safari, if the main window uses HTTP (shown in the browser’s address bar), then any frames contained within the main window must also use HTTP. If a frame tries to access another server using HTTPS and the main window uses HTTP, an error will occur.

ActiveX controls do not run in Safari
Any SAP CRM features that rely on Microsoft ActiveX technology cannot run in Safari.

The main browser window must sometimes be clicked twice to regain its focus after closing a popup window
The Safari browser sometimes requires users to click the main browser window twice in order to get the keyboard focus again after closing a popup window. Before the user clicks the main window, its UI may show that it has the keyboard focus but it does not. Any clicks on UI elements within the main window will not work until the main window regains the keyboard focus. JavaScript cannot be used to circumvent the issue.

Business Text Framework (BTF) Editor limitations
The BTF Editor (used in mail forms and other areas) has the following limitations under Safari: 1. The Find dialog is unavailable (the browser’s standard search functionality can be used). 2. The Cut, Copy and Paste buttons are not available (the browser’s standard cut, copy and paste functionality can be used). 3. When pasting from Microsoft Excel into an editable iframe such as the BTF Editor’s, the resulting HTML is sometimes invalid, i.e. opening and closing <TABLE> HTML tags are missing, which can result in loss of formatting or even change the screen layout.
( Changed on 03.11.2008 )
Column widths are not always evenly distributed
Safari does not always evenly distribute column widths in tables. As a result, some configurable form views in SAP CRM show a misalignment of fields and labels, as well as incorrect field and label widths, for which a fix cannot be provided by SAP.
